Hungry Shark Evolution Celebrates 135 Million Downloads with the Third-Annual Shark Week Partnership

LONDON, UK — June 25, 2015— Today, Ubisoft® announced a partnership with Discovery Channel to bring brand new content to Hungry Shark Evolution. In celebration of Shark Week and Independence Day, Ubisoft’s Hungry Shark Evolution is currently available to download for free on iOS, Android, Amazon and Windows platforms. Shark Week on Discovery Channel begins on Sunday, July 5 and to mark the occasion, Hungry Shark Evolution is running the Shark of Liberty event. In the event, players will collect pieces of a broken ‘Shark of Liberty’ statue that they must recreate in order to win the final award. Players will be able to celebrate Independence Day in style with a fireworks rocket launcher, Shark Week-themed videos and a return of the Uncle Sam Hat – the iconic top hat seen worn by Uncle Sam – in which players’ can dress their sharks in.

For a second time, Hungry Shark Evolution is joining Fin Free, the campaign to ban shark fins worldwide, and Oceana, an organization dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans, to bring awareness to the mass slaughtering of sharks for their fins, and the impact it has on the declining population of sharks and the global ecosystem. To support the cause and to bring light to the movement, Hungry Shark Evolution is offering players new items and videos in game. Players will be able to unlock a new item to boost shark survival.

Hungry Shark Evolution is developed by Ubisoft’s Future Games of London (FGOL) and is a 3D aquatic action adventure game available for mobile phones and tablets. In Hungry Shark Evolution, the player takes on the role of a deep-sea hungry shark that must continue eating food to stay alive and to evolve into more and more powerful sharks that dominate the undersea world. Started in 2010, applications from the Hungry Shark series have been downloaded more than 145 million times, with Hungry Shark Evolution counting for nearly 80 million of these1. This latest installment of the series won a TIGA Best Game Award in 20132. The game has been widely praised for its high-quality graphics, animated undersea environment, novel game theme and unique gameplay.
